AI & Clinical Decision-Support Disclaimer

Last updated June 5, 2026

This AI & Clinical Decision-Support Disclaimer (this “Disclaimer”) governs your use of all artificial-intelligence, automated, analytical, and decision-support features of the viggoVet platform (the “AI Features”). It is a binding part of, and is incorporated into, our Terms of Service, and is supported by our Responsible AI Statement. The viggoVet entity you contract with is identified in our Legal Entities document. By accessing or using any AI Feature, you accept this Disclaimer on behalf of yourself and your organisation.

In short: the AI Features are tools that assist a licensed veterinary professional. They are not veterinary advice, not a diagnosis, not a prescription, and not a medical or monitoring device. They can be wrong. A qualified professional must independently review every output and remains fully and solely responsible for all clinical, prescribing, anaesthetic, financial, and professional decisions.

1. Decision-support only; not advice or a device

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the AI Features are provided as decision-support and productivity tools only. They are not veterinary, medical, diagnostic, anaesthetic, pharmacological, financial, accounting, tax, or legal advice; are not a medical device, diagnostic device, or patient-monitoring or alarm system; and are not a substitute for the knowledge, skill, examination, and judgement of a licensed professional. viggoVet does not practise veterinary medicine and does not supervise your practice.

2. Feature-specific disclaimers

The following apply to specific categories of AI Features, in addition to the general terms of this Disclaimer.

Clinical documentation (e.g. SOAP notes, summaries, transcription)

Documentation features draft and organise content to save time. They may misinterpret inputs, omit information, or generate inaccurate text. You must review, correct, and approve all clinical records before they are relied upon or entered into the medical record. You remain the author of, and responsible for, your records.

Reports and analytics (clinical and financial)

The platform offers many clinical and financial reports and analyses. These are informational, depend entirely on the data you and others enter, and may contain errors or be unsuitable for a particular purpose. They are not assurance, audit, financial, accounting, tax, or legal advice, and must not be the sole basis for clinical, business, or financial decisions. Verify figures against source data and obtain professional advice where appropriate.

Real-time patient-status and anaesthesia aids

These features carry particular risk and require particular care. Any feature that presents a real-time patient status or anaesthetic indication, including outputs such as “stable”, “unstable”, “at risk”, or similar classifications and any commentary referencing guidelines, is an indicative adjunct only. It is not a medical monitor, vital-signs monitor, or alarm system, is not certified or validated as such, and may be inaccurate, delayed, interrupted, or unavailable. It must never replace continuous monitoring of the patient by appropriately trained personnel using validated monitoring equipment and established clinical protocols. Do not rely on it to detect, predict, or alert you to deterioration or emergencies. The attending professional is solely responsible for monitoring, interpretation, and intervention at all times.

Evidence-based information and chat

Information and chat features may draw on general sources and can produce content that is incomplete, outdated, out of context, or simply wrong (including plausible-sounding but incorrect statements). They do not establish a professional relationship with viggoVet and are not a substitute for primary literature, product labels, and your own clinical judgement. Always verify against authoritative, current sources.

Drug formulary and dosing

Medication and dosing outputs must always be independently verified. Formulary, dose, interaction, and similar outputs may contain errors, may not reflect the specific patient, species, condition, jurisdiction, or current product labelling, and may be incomplete. Before prescribing, dispensing, or administering, you must independently confirm the drug, indication, dose, route, contraindications, and interactions against authoritative references and the approved product information. Prescribing decisions are solely the responsibility of the licensed professional.

3. Mandatory human oversight

The AI Features are designed to be used with a human in control. A qualified professional must review AI outputs and exercise independent judgement before acting. You must not configure or use the AI Features to make autonomous clinical decisions or to act without professional review. You are responsible for ensuring your personnel are trained in the appropriate, supervised use of the AI Features.

4. Accuracy, limitations, and assumption of risk

  • AI can be wrong. Outputs are probabilistic and may contain errors, omissions, biases, or fabricated content, and may not suit a specific case.
  • Outputs depend on inputs. Inaccurate, incomplete, or poor-quality data will produce unreliable outputs.
  • No guarantee. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, reliability, timeliness, or fitness of any output for any purpose.
  • Availability. AI Features may be interrupted, delayed, degraded, or withdrawn, and must not be depended on for continuity of care.
  • Assumption of risk. You and your organisation knowingly assume all risk arising from your use of, or reliance on, the AI Features.

5. No emergency or life-critical reliance

The AI Features are not designed or intended for use as the sole or primary means of detecting, preventing, or managing emergencies or life-critical situations. In any urgent or deteriorating situation, rely on direct professional assessment, validated equipment, and established emergency procedures.

6. Regulatory status and your compliance

The AI Features have not been cleared, approved, or certified as a medical or diagnostic device by any regulator, and viggoVet makes no such claim. You are responsible for determining whether and how you may lawfully use the AI Features in your jurisdiction and within your profession, and for complying with all applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and (where relevant) artificial-intelligence and medical-device rules. You must not use any AI Feature in a manner, or in a jurisdiction, where doing so would be unlawful.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the AI Features are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. No information or output from the AI Features creates any warranty not expressly stated in the Agreement.

8. Limitation of liability and indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by law, viggoVet is not liable for any loss, harm, injury, death of an animal, misdiagnosis, mistreatment, prescribing error, financial loss, or other damage arising from use of, or reliance on, the AI Features or any output. viggoVet’s liability is subject to the exclusions and the liability cap in the Terms of Service. You will indemnify viggoVet for claims arising from your use of the AI Features or your clinical, prescribing, or business decisions, as set out in the Agreement. Nothing in this Disclaimer excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

9. Acknowledgement

By using any AI Feature you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Disclaimer, that you are a licensed or supervised professional (or acting under one), and that you accept sole professional responsibility for decisions made using the AI Features. For higher-risk features, we may require you to confirm this acknowledgement within the product before use.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this Disclaimer on notice; for material changes we will give reasonable advance notice. Questions: our contact form at viggo.vet/legal/contact.
