Understanding Your Dashboard
Reading time: 3 minutes
The dashboard is your starting point after login. It pulls together the most important information from across the platform so you can see what’s happening, what’s coming up, and what needs attention, without navigating to individual modules.
All the dashboard cards are showing with role and permission base, so in your access, you will see the widgets that your clinic super admin permitted you to access or see.
Insights cards
Three cards at the top of the dashboard display your financial pulse:
Sales. Total sales for the current period with a dropdown to change the period of insights.
Purchases. Total purchase amounts for inventory and supplies. This reflects completed purchase orders and received inventory.
Expenses. Operational costs beyond inventory: utilities, maintenance, services, and other business expenses.
Tip: Glance at these cards at the start of each day. If a number looks unexpectedly high or low, that gives indecator of possible actions.
Appointments
If you are a provider (veterinarian or vet service provider), this widget appears in your dashboard.
This widget lists today’s appointments and upcoming visits. Each entry shows:
- Appointment time
- Client and patient name
- Appointment type (exam, surgery, vaccination, etc.)
- Assigned provider
- Status (color-coded: confirmed, checked in, completed, cancelled)
Click any appointment to open its detail page. The list updates in real time as appointments are added, modified, or completed.
Status Board summary
A condensed view of the full Status Board shows patients currently in your facility:
- Patient name and species
- Current location or stage (exam room, surgery, recovery, etc.)
- Time since check-in
- Assigned provider
This gives you situational awareness without leaving the dashboard. Click the widget to open the full Status Board.
Reminders
The clients’ reminders widget collects tasks and notifications that need your attention, for instance:
- Vaccination due dates
- Follow-up appointments to schedule
- Outstanding invoice payment reminders
Each reminder includes a due date or priority indicator. Action buttons let you complete or dismiss reminders directly. Items remain visible until you mark them complete or their due date passes.
Invoice chart
A visual chart shows invoice totals over time. Use it to spot billing patterns, revenue trends, and potential collection issues at a glance.
Hover over chart elements to see specific values for a period.
Inventory Distribution
This section shows an overview of the available inventory items within each category:
Warning: Out-of-stock & low-stock alerts for medications and critical supplies deserve immediate attention. Consider setting up reorder thresholds that give you enough lead time for delivery.
Role-based views
Your dashboard automatically adjusts based on your role, with full control to enable or disable each widget per role or user.
Role | Dashboard emphasis |
|---|---|
Veterinarian | Appointment schedule, patient statuses, pending lab results |
Receptionist | Appointment management, check-in status, outstanding balances |
Practice manager | Financial summaries, inventory alerts, operational metrics |
Veterinary technician | Treatment schedules, Status Board summary, assigned tasks |
You see the widgets most relevant to your daily work.
