Understanding the Interface
Reading time: 3 minutes
viggoVet uses consistent layout patterns across every page. Once you learn the main elements, navigating new features feels familiar.
Left sidebar
The collapsible sidebar organizes the platform into five main sections:
- Dashboard. Your overview page with insights, appointments, and alerts
- Accounts. Client management, patient records, and related data
- Finance. Invoices, payments, expenses, purchase orders, and financial reports
- Operations. Calendar, appointments, Status Board, inventory, and operational tools
- Settings. System configuration, user management, clinic settings, and preferences
The sidebar stays visible as you navigate between pages. Collapse it using the toggle icon at the top to give yourself more room on data-heavy screens like the Status Board or calendar.
Tip: The active menu item is highlighted so you always know which section you’re in. Parent items stay expanded when you’re viewing their child pages.
Top navigation bar
The top bar gives you quick access to four things:
Global search. The search field accepts client names, patient names, invoice numbers, and other identifiers. Results appear as you type, grouped by record type. This is the fastest way to find any record.
Notifications. The bell icon shows system notifications, reminders, and alerts. A red badge shows the unread count. Click a notification to go directly to the relevant record.
Clinic switcher. If you manage multiple clinics, the dropdown lets you switch which clinic’s data you’re viewing. Single-clinic accounts don’t see this.
Language switcher. To change the whole interface into your preferred language, viggoVet supports 28+ languages.
Main content area
This is where everything happens: forms, tables, patient records, dashboards, and reports all display here. The content area fills the space between the sidebar and the screen edge.
Most pages follow one of four patterns:
Pattern | What it looks like | Example |
|---|---|---|
List view | Table with sortable columns, search, filters, and action buttons | Client list, Invoice list |
Detail view | Record with tabbed sections (Overview, Appointments, Billing, etc.) | Client profile, Patient record |
Form | Data entry fields with validation and Save/Cancel buttons | New appointment, New invoice |
Dashboard | Cards and widgets showing metrics, charts, and quick-access lists | Main dashboard |
Page headers
Most pages display a header with the page title and primary action buttons (Add New, Export, Print, etc.). View controls for switching layouts or applying filters also live here.
Modals
Focused tasks that don’t need a full page, like quick data entry, confirmation prompts, or record previews, open in modal windows over the current content. Close them with the X button, Cancel, or by clicking outside the modal.
Toast notifications
Brief messages appear in the top-right corner to confirm actions or report errors. They auto-dismiss after a few seconds.
- Green = success
- Red = error
- Yellow = warning
- Blue = informational
Color coding
viggoVet uses color consistently to indicate status:
- Green: complete, active, success
- Yellow: pending, in progress
- Red: overdue, error, urgent
- Gray: inactive, draft
These colors appear on status badges, icons, and highlights throughout the platform.
Customization
Language. Change the interface language by clicking the flag icon in the top-right corner of the screen. A dropdown shows available languages, select one and the change takes effect instantly. viggoVet supports 28+ languages.
Note: For right-to-left languages like Arabic, the language selector moves to the top-left corner after switching. The entire interface adapts to RTL layout.
Timezone. Set your preferred timezone in user settings. This controls how appointment times and record timestamps display.
Interface conventions
These patterns are consistent across the whole platform:
- Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*) or with red message that this Field is required.. Forms won’t submit until required fields are complete.
- Primary actions use solid color buttons. Secondary actions use outlined buttons. Destructive actions (delete, etc.) use red.
- Timestamps display in your configured timezone with relative indicators (“2 hours ago,” “yesterday”) for recent events.
