Navigating viggoVet

Available onEliteEnterpriseProfessional

Reading time: 3 minutes

viggoVet gives you multiple ways to navigate depending on what you’re doing. Browsing through menus works when you’re exploring. Search is faster when you know what you’re looking for. This page covers the navigation methods and when to use each one.

Sidebar menu

The left sidebar is your primary navigation. Click a section to expand it and reveal its sub-items.

Section

What’s inside

Dashboard

Your main overview page

Accounts

Clients, patients, and account management

Finance

Invoices, payments, expenses, financial reports

Operations

Calendar, appointments, Status Board, inventory, purchase orders

Settings

Configuration, user management, integrations, preferences

The active item stays highlighted so you know where you are. Parent items remain expanded when you’re viewing their child pages.

Global search

The search bar at the top of every page finds records across the entire platform. Start typing and results appear immediately, grouped by type (Clients, Patients, Invoices, Appointments) with a count for each category.

Click any result to go directly to that record.

Tip: Use global search when you know the client name, patient name, or invoice number. It’s faster than navigating through menus and lists.

Bookmarks and direct URLs

Every page in viggoVet has a unique URL you can bookmark. Save the pages you use most (calendar, Status Board, invoice list) for one-click access. Direct URLs also work for sharing specific pages with colleagues who have the right permissions.

Finding patient records

There are several paths to a patient record depending on what you know:

You know…

Fastest path

Patient or owner name

Type it into global search, click the result

Client profile is open

Click the Patients tab on their profile

Appointment is on the calendar

Click the appointment, then click the patient name

Patient is in the clinic now

Find them on the Status Board and click their card

Creating new records

New record buttons appear in consistent spots:

  • On list pages. Look for Add New or Create in the page header
  • On detail pages. Add buttons appear in relevant sections (e.g., “Add Appointment” on the calendar)
  • Quick actions. Some pages offer a “+New” option in the sidebar or as a floating button

Viewing related information

Patient and client records organize related data into tabs:

  • Overview. Summary and recent activity
  • Medical Records. SOAP notes, vitals, prescriptions, diagnostics
  • Appointments. Past and future visits
  • Invoices. Billing history and outstanding balances
  • Documents & Attachments. Uploaded files and images

Tab content loads when you select it, so records with long histories don’t slow down the page.

Working with multiple tabs

You can open multiple browser tabs to reference information side by side, patient record in one tab, invoice in another. The platform syncs data across tabs. Changes in one tab appear in others after a page refresh or when you navigate to the updated record.

Note: This is particularly useful when creating an invoice while referencing the patient’s medical history, or keeping the calendar visible while managing check-ins on the Status Board.

Mobile navigation

On phones and tablets, the sidebar collapses into a hamburger menu icon. Tap it to reveal navigation options. The mobile interface prioritizes quick access to appointments, patient lookup, and the Status Board rather than extensive data entry.

Navigation tips

  • Search for known targets. If you know the name or number, search beats browsing every time.
  • Bookmark your daily tools. Calendar, Status Board, and dashboard are worth saving.
  • Stay in context. When working with a patient, use the tabs on their record rather than navigating back to menus.

If something seems missing

Menu item doesn’t appear. Your role may not have permission to access that feature. Check with your practice administrator.

Search returns no results. Verify spelling, try a partial name, or check that you’re searching in the right clinic (multi-clinic accounts).
