Key takeaways

  • PetDesk connects practices with their clients: an owner app, communications, phones, reminders and booking, now with AI call summaries and an AI scribe.
  • viggoVet works in the clinical rooms PetDesk does not reach: the surgery, the dental suite, and the road.
  • Keep PetDesk for client engagement. Add viggoVet for clinical AI and mobile route planning.

What is PetDesk, and what is it good at?

PetDesk is one of the best-known client communication platforms in veterinary medicine, and its owner app is widely used by pet owners. PetDesk Communications now brings calls, texting and reminders into one place: PetDesk Phones is integrated into it, with call history, transcripts and AI-generated call summaries. In 2026 PetDesk also launched PetDesk Scribe, an AI SOAP-notes product that integrates with practice management systems.

Through its parent company Petvisor, PetDesk has brought in Vetstoria for online booking (presented in North America as PetDesk Direct Booking), WhiskerCloud for digital marketing, and Kontak for VoIP phones, so a practice can run most client contact through one suite.

What viggoVet adds alongside it

PetDesk handles the conversation with the client. viggoVet handles clinical moments in the practice.

  • The surgery: AI Anesthesia Assist, an advisory stability or risk read at every vitals entry, checked against the whole patient. Vitals are entered manually today.
  • The dental suite: AI Dental Chart, from tooth-by-tooth charting to a prognosis and a plain-language letter for the owner, which a practice can then send through whatever channel it already uses.
  • The road: AI Remote Booking for house calls and farm work, with each day arranged as a driving route, bookings kept inside each vet's radius, and owners' records imported as a patient profile.
  • The patient day: the Status Board, patient and client records with an AI history summary, and lab results from IDEXX, Zoetis and Woodley.
  • Coming soon, free: VetEvince, the published veterinary evidence in your pocket, and the AI Drug Formulary.
