OpenVet.ai with viggoVet
OpenVet answers your clinical question. viggoVet runs the rest of the visit, from booking to anesthesia and dental. How they fit, and what to ask any AI.
Key takeaways
- OpenVet answers clinical questions for free for any licensed veterinarian, with every claim linked to its source.
- viggoVet works around the answer: booking, records, reminders and client chat, plus clinical AI in the surgery, the dental suite and on the road.
- OpenVet and viggoVet share a conviction: clinical AI should show its sources, keep the vet in charge, and be checkable.
- Ask any clinical AI how it was tested, and by whom. That includes ours.
What is OpenVet, and what is it good at?
OpenVet is a clinical decision-support tool that opened to the public on 2 July 2026, free for licensed veterinarians in public beta, both in its app and by email. It covers canine, feline, equine, bovine and exotic species and returns structured answers with differentials, dosing and next steps.
OpenVet has also done work for the whole profession. In January 2026 it published a Veterinary AI Safety Charter calling for "clinician-in-the-loop accountability for all high-stakes decisions" and "traceability to verifiable veterinary evidence for high-risk outputs." In March 2026 it released VetClaw, an open-source library of 51 veterinary AI skills. Computing doses from fixed reference data rather than letting a language model generate them is a sound design choice, and we respect it.
What viggoVet adds around the answer
An answer helps you decide. Then the work starts, and that is where viggoVet sits.
- The practice day: online booking, a calendar by provider and room, the Status Board, client and patient records, client chat, tasks, reminders, and lab results from IDEXX, Zoetis and Woodley.
- The surgery: AI Anesthesia Assist, an advisory stability or risk read at every vitals entry, checked against the whole patient. Vitals are entered manually today.
- The dental suite: AI Dental Chart, from tooth-by-tooth charting to the owner letter that earns consent.
- The road: AI Remote Booking, the mobile day arranged as a route.
How to judge any clinical AI, including ours
Every clinical AI vendor says its answers are accurate. Five questions separate a claim from evidence:
- Who tested it, other than the company that sells it?
- Is the method published, so you can see what was asked and how answers were scored?
- Does the result come with a confidence interval, or only a single headline number?
- Is there a safety check, with harmful advice judged by licensed veterinarians and counted against the score?
- Can you trace each answer to its source and read it yourself?
OpenVet's own Safety Charter asks for the same things: traceability, transparency and accountability. We agree with it.
An open invitation
VetEval exists so that clinical AI tools can be measured the same way, in public, with the method published at veteval.ai. Evaluation needs API access to a model, and it is open to any vendor on the same published terms. We would welcome OpenVet's models on it, and so, we suspect, would the vets who use them.

FAQ
Can I use OpenVet and viggoVet together? Yes. Many vets will ask a clinical question in one tool and run the patient's visit in another. Neither requires the other.
Is viggoVet's AI on VetEval? No. viggoVet's models are never ranked on VetEval, by design. See viggo.vet/veteval.
Is AI Anesthesia Assist a monitor? No. It is advisory clinical decision-support, not a medical device, monitor or alarm.
